Dear brods;

I am pleased to announce that we had a very successful NBP legal, medical and dental mission yesterday.

My special thanks to brods Bobby Parel for helping organize the outreach program, VC Alex Lopez for coordinating with NBP Asst. Director Joey Fajardo, the brods who got us the sponsors and donors which gave us the medicines and medical supplies and manpower, Dodie Zabella, Mon Esguerra, Boy Dio and Laya Victoria, for PCSO, Pfizer and PHAP, respectively, brods Jose Cas and Sylton Solidum for UNTV’s dental and medical teams and TV coverage, my clients Nephro Phils, Inc for the medical supplies and 2 nurses, Multicare for the medicines; our partner in service my Rotary Club of San Francisco del Monte led by Prez Louie Pañgulayan, for its Mobile Surgical Unit (the world’s first fully-equipped and complete operating unit on wheels) which operated on 19 inmates (thanks Doctor Jim Sanchez, the team leader, nurses, aides and all,. and doc Fuentabella of the NBP medical staff, RCSFDM VP Ronnie Yap, who built the MSU, and with his team brought the MSU to the NBP at 4am and set it up), our legal team led by Legal Aid Commiitee Co-Chair Arnold Guerrero, Bee Magtanong, Percy Rosales, Ruben Acebedo, Robel Yambao, Rowell Agustin who brought a lawyer friend Atty. Jay, Benny Mendoza, Alex Lopez, Louie Pañgulayan, who all were able to interview 100 pre-selected inmates, mostly CICL cases and inmates who are terminally ill and over 70 years of age, the NBP medical staff led by Dra. Melinda Alipe, Records Section Chief, Zenny Hierco, Admin Chief, Boo Diaz, the security head and security detail, and all NBP personnel whose names I cannot recall, (the lawyers, doctors, dentists, admin and security staff) but whose help were equally invaluable – maraming maraming salamat po!!

Of course, the mission would not have been possible without the full support of NBP Director, Retired General Ricardo Dapat, who could not be with us because he was in Malacanang), and Assistant Director Joselito Fajardo (who unselfishly lent us his time, Office and his personnel to help out – it was a huge effort on their part in mobilizing the security at the different mission sites and escort detail in bringing and returning the inmates to and from the various detention facilities!), thank you so much!

My special thanks, too, to the brods who helped out and whose presence inspired the alphans – Laya Victoria, Paeng Arcega, Jess Vergara, Ronan Yuzon and Ariel Arceo. My thanks to Matthew De Guzman, who worked overtime till 2am Monday, to design our streamer for the event!

Brods, the effort meant a lot to the inmates. I hope the Chancery could sustain this project on a prolonged basis, especially with our legal team. This is life-changing and could make a difference in the lives of our beneficiaries, their families and communities. Its time we give back to society. By this, we fulfill one of our main goals – to be of service to the nation.

Thank you all for your support! Mabuhay ang Alphans Para sa Bayan!

God Bless us all!

LC Mar
